What is a Window Blind?

A window blind is one of the types of window covering made of different kinds of systems and materials. A window blind is made with slats of fabric, wood, plastic or metal that adjusts by rotating from an open position to a closed position. The slats are overlapped whenever blinds are in closed position. Even some window blinds are available which has only single piece of material instead of slats.

Examples for window blinds are shutters, roller blinds, roman blinds and of course, standard vertical and horizontal blinds.

There are many benefits of window blinds.
  • Window blinds look trendy and enhance your home and office.
  • Window blinds can be opened or closed easily. There are two versions available: manual and automated. The manual version can be operated by pulling a cord whereas the automated version of blinds are operated with the controls in the form of wall switches, keypads, remote control, or a personal computer. It is more convenient than the manual blinds.
  • Window blinds are used as a air regulator because it permits airflow into the room reducing the heat in the space where they are installed, thereby, bringing down the high utilization costs of operating air conditioning units. In winter, when it gets colder you can adjust the Blinds so that there is adequate heat and light allowed to enter the home and/or office, thereby, regulating the temperature as per your needs.
  • Window blinds prevents color fading and tampering of texture of the carpets and the furniture present in the room or office. They help to filter out harsh direct sunlight, thereby, protecting upholstery in the room from fading or losing color.

Finally, Window Blinds provide you with privacy while they prevent sunlight and increase the airflow.
