Know How a Split Air Conditioner Works

The three common types of air conditioners are window, split and central air conditioners. Here we will learn about the working of a split air conditioner.

In a split air conditioner the indoor unit or evaporator is separated from the outdoor unit or condenser. The evaporator is inside the room, while the compressor is kept outside.

The split air conditioner has two parts and is connected between the inside and outside to remove hot air from inside the room to outside. The split air conditioners do not need to have an exhaust to remove the air itself, as the refrigerant cools the inside air by converting its heat to energy.

Since the refrigerant is moved through the copper pipes in a split air conditioner, there is no need for the air inside the room to be forced out. Ventilation involves exchange of the inside air out and bringing in fresh air from outdoors. Air conditioners work perfectly where the indoors are tightly sealed.
