If we talk about computer software, it is nothing but the collection of data. For providing the instructions to the computer regarding the operations which it has to perform, different types of programs and data are used. This programs and data are termed as software.
Hardware and software both are required for the working of the computer. Unlike hardware, software is an intangible one. Sometimes when we consider software for the computer alone, application software mainly comes into picture. If we consider in general, then software may be related to any equipment which is not a part of computer. The language with which the computer speaks is generally called as the computer software.

Application Software: For offering specific tasks, which may or may not directly be related to the computer are being accomplished using this Application Software. Some of the applications where this application software is useful is industrial automation, business software, medical software etc.
