Various Uses of Jute fiber

Jute is one of the popular natural fibers which is made from the plant materials. In production it stands second to cotton and there are various materials which can be made using this fiber. Especially for making clothing it is extensively used. Long back people from the backward community used to wear the clothes made of jute.

The fiber itself is long, fine and shiny. Following are the different uses of the jute fiber .
  • It is chiefly used for cloth making which is used to wrap bales of raw materials, and to make sacks and coarse cloth.
  • The fibers can also be woven in to curtains, sofa covers, carpets, and can be used as backing for other materials.
  • Jute is blended with many other natural fibers to make twines and ropes. Small jute fibers can also be made in to wood pulp and in turn used to make papers.
  • Traditionally jute is being used for sacking, carpets, wrapping fabrics, and in construction of fabric making industry.
  • It is also used to produce many other fabrics like the Hessain cloth, scrim, carpet backing cloth, and canvas and other home furnishings.
  • Jute mats are even popular in many parts. Large amounts of the jute fabric are tufted and piled in to a strong fabric and is used as mats.
Besides all these, jute is an eco-friendly fabric since it is made of natural ingredients. The fabric itself is strong, durable, and light. Other properties such as sound and heat insulation, low thermal conduction and anti static properties are very helpful for using it as a home decor.
